3/4ths of the kiddos had routine appointments plus shots. Isabelle was the lucky one- getting to observe and take on the big sister/encourager/comforter role.
Biggest surprise?
well, its a tie between
A} the over-dramatic reaction Faith decided was necessary for her finger prick/shot {seriously, the child never produced more than a mere 'ouch' or slight whimper when dealing with shots and her recovery was always simple and fast} Apparently, when you turn 5 you are suddenly allowed to become over-dramatic==== hopefully we can save all that energy and focus it on next weeks Musical Theatre Camp { oh yes, get excited }
B} Faith grew 4 inches in the last year.
That sounds like so much and I know there are some of you out there who will go to great lengths to tell me about all the kids you know who grew 'x' in 'y' time... guess what - none of that matters to me .... Im super impressed with our kiddo. She got EXCELLENT remarks. I had to laugh at 2 particular things that happened during her exam.
First, Dr.G asked "Does she know her letters and numbers" and the natural reaction to this question was "Who? Isabelle" - it seemed so strange to ask if she knew that, our girl, our little reader and math guru... too funny.
Second, he asked her things like what color/shape things were, what her name was, can she spell ' ' etc, At one particular time he presented her with the {here goes my non-medical speak} "piece of metal they use to check your knee jerk reaction". He asked her what shape it was, referring to the bright orange triangle part. Yet Faith, who carefully took note of the device asked "which part?" love it
So happy 5 years Miss Faith, and happy 4 inches!
Next up - the twins. At 9 months here is what is going on:
sitting
crawling backwards
using any method to get around {rolling, twisting, turning, grabbing onto things}
tucking knees up and rocking - trying to get the forward crawl action
taking each others toys
eating some table foods
self-feeding
beginning independent bottle holding, sort-of I mean who wants to hold
a bottle when mom and dad can prop it up
giggles galore
babbles galore
reaching up when we come near them
wanting to do it all, feed, crawl, move, etc
enjoy being read to
enjoy being entertained
Luke
loves to take Madeleine's pacifier
or anything of hers
loves exploring on his tummy
loves standing up {assisted}
loves jumping/bouncing/moving
sleeps/naps great!
would rather be on his feet, holding hands, walking around
eats EVERYTHING

Madeleine
only wants her pacifier to sleep, not play

wants things done her way, in her time and only when she is ready

giggles at everything and loves to reach out to her sisters and Mommy too

It is all so incredible. Each of them, how much they are growing and changing. Every single day is a new opportunity or chance for them to discover so much. We have another developmental check coming up at the end of July and I am hoping at least one if not two of them are crawling by then... it would be a nice shock and certainly mean a lot of changes around here!
